I think this is my favourite life painting I've done. Normally I retouch paintings when I get home but I haven't done that to this one yet and I still like it.
This is really cool Jeremy. Great job with those eyes. I was just wondering, how do you do this ? Do you carry a tablet and laptop to lifedrawing with you ? Or do you sketch on site, do color thumbnails and build these up at home ?
Thanks! Yes - I paint everything on site. I bring a laptop to TSA with a 9x12 wacom intuos. The tables are "just" wide enough to fit both. The room is fairly large so I just borrow an extension cord from them and power up.
As for how I actually do it: I spend the first 2 hours just drawing things out... most of the time it takes me like 4hours just to get a final line and some basic colour blocking + shadow placement. Then I'll spend the next 4 hours rendering it out. I work really big, like 4000x7000 but I'm only using 1 layer.
