Kite Runner

Last night I finished reading "The Kite Runner". It was easily one of the best books I have ever read in my entire life. Beautifully written and a gripping story until the very end. I'm in the process of finding some balance in life right now.. My primary focus is to find work, but as mentioned before I hit creative doldrums the last few weeks and was doing everything I could think of to jump start the imagination. Things are slowly coming back to me, and I'm finding it easier to draw and paint again each day. But boy, I won't deny, that film sucked the life out of me...

No, I am not trying to copy or be like the Mullins. But I was looking at his paintings and fell in love with the fact that he paints whatever the hell he wants no matter how rough.

Bounty Hunter

CGHub is one of the best entertainment art sites out there. Lately I've fallen in love with it. This is a submission to the biweekly drawing jam, the topic was "Hired Gun". I think I'm getting a hang of how to best paint my concepts. Trying to get faster and yet draw better at the same time.

P.S. Reading week is awesome.. but this year is basically just like being in school.

Upgraded

I've upgraded to PENCIL, DOODS! Conte made me love gesture, Nupastel made me love rendering, Pen made me love contour, and PENCIL MAKES ME LOVE THEM ALL COMBINED!
Haha man this is so cool... after years of experimentation, I've decided that the pencil is perhaps the best drafting tool available. I LOVE pencil sketching! I LOVE drawing! I've dropped all those Sheridan style shorthands and am rolling in my own thing. I also started embracing my crap. (heh heh) Ever since I started just accepting my crap drawings I started to improve! Ever since I embraced all the things I normally hid away, I've come to face my own art and I can move forward. Lesson of the day: don't pretend to draw like someone you aren't.

Sylvanas Windrunner

So, I found out at the last minute that there was a Blizzard art contest going on. I have NEVER painted this fast in my entire life - but I am pleased with how it turned out, and even more pleased that I was able to submit! It's been a long time since I've painted something proper, so not only was this a lot of fun to do but also served as much needed practice.
